I am privileged to have been asked to photograph a lot of amazing and wonderful events in my career. Non have been as touching as The American Heart Associations Power Of Laughter and Latina Luncheon events. As a Latina, I know first hand the health issues my community faces when it comes to receiving quality health care. I have experienced LONG wait times to see a doctor and issues with feeling heard. I also see the lack of quality food that is available to low-income people which impact our daily health. I am lucky that I can drive outside of my neighborhood to access better options but many Hispanics don’t or can’t do this. So being able to use my skills and talents to help an Organization like the AHA share what they do with my community is very important to me on many levels. it’s not about exposure or networking although that a great bonus, I won’t lie. But it’s important because I get to find resources that I can bring back to the families in my community. 
See when it comes to good health and community support. Just like in business it takes a village working together and ensure that we all succeed. Women’s health is NOT just women’s health. It required the help of the men and children in our lives for us to make it work. I don’t know how and where I’d be without all of the men in my life who have helped me and HELD me up. And I teach my son the same lessons. My daughter will know that he can look for support from both genders.
