When we begin looking at Failure as an opportunity to grow rather than as a place of feeling less than and incomplete because your plan didn't work out we grow, we thrive we are transformed into the Goddess we are meant to be. ⠀

You reap what you sow. My daughter and I planted these sweet peppers from tiny seedlings back in March when schools closed. Today we picked the full grown ones. Not having ANY experience in the pepper growing area I left them on the vine a bit too long and some got sunburned but thats ok because we can cut around that.

You know there are SO MANY in the Latina/o (Hispan

You know there are SO MANY in the Latina/o (Hispanic) community-- Mexicans, Dominicans, Puerto Rican, Cubans, Brazilian that don't identify as African American even though that's where our roots (400 years ago) lie.
.
The stories in this audio book are fitting.
.
We identify ourselves as people from our country or island of origin. For example my family and I are Puerto Ricans. The blood of our parents, the place we call home. THAT is what and who we are.
.
I like to think of Hispanics as the 'gray area' between blacks and whites since that is ultimately how this race came to be. My ancestors were raped and abused and by deflaut of location we have developed into the culture we are today.
.
I watch the news and hear people and organizations talk about how they want Puerto Rican to identify as Black or African American on forms and the recent census, I know my history and roots. But here's the thing... I grew up eating rice and beans with fried bananas, I enjoyed sucking the sweet juices from a sugar cane stalk as a treat in a summer day,
.
I grew up dancing to Salsa and Meringue, songs of the Island, by Hector Lavor, Tito Puente, and Celia Cruz (although she was Cuban) with my aunts in the sala de mi Abula.
.
.
I say all of this because there's a part of many people in the hispanic culture who feel the phrase 'all lives matter' is justified because as Latinos we matter too. And just like other non-white races and cultures such as Asians, Middle Eastern, and Hawaiians identify as such so do Puerto Ricans and Latinos .
WE MATTER. In some of my circles I hear people ask, where are the signs that read #supportlatinobusinessowners

I NEVER want to take away from police brutality and the killing of unarmed black men and women but the systemic ignorance of my culture, remeber the P.R earthquakes and Hurrican Maria, well many parts of the Island are still recovering, and healing from the loss of a home, a life and years of memories.

This photo is one of my favorite. Why? Because from an early age both of my children have had a love of photography and video production. Over the last few years I've hosted a kids summer camp but this year with Covid-19 I'm going to make it a virtual camp. Complete with photo scavenger hunts, projects and other fun projects.
All activities will allow for time outside while respecting all social distancing guidelines.

Yesterday I woke up not realizing it was JULY 1st! At the beginning of the year I choose a word for the year and decided to choose a work of the month as well to help me stay on track and focused. My #Julywordofthemonth is #perspective ⠀
We are half way through the year and it's been a wild one to say the least. So perspective is, in my opinion, the best word to describe what I need and how to stay on track.⠀
