I started my essential oil journey about a year ago and I LLOOVVEE it. I shower with them, clean with them and use them on my kids. And when my kids ask for them I know I have a winner! I have Lupus and am allergic to a lot of things so I gave up trying to figure out what I can use and what I shouldn’t. I learned about the oils from a friend and since they are all natural I figured they couldn’t hurt. I love that I can make my own lotions and scrubs as well as add them to the laundry. My house smells AMAZING. My daughter uses them for her allergies and while its hard to get her to remember many days she recognizes the difference. If you want to know more leave me a comment and I will be sure to reply.
What essential oils are:
Essential oils are the aromatic, volatile liquids distilled from plants. The oil can be obtained from the seeds, roots, and entire shrub, flowers, leaves and trees. The Bible contains 188 references to the use of essential oils or the plants from which they are derived. Awesome Right! I’ll admit, I was HUGELY skeptical at first (and totally called my friends granola girls. Im not giving up french fries and coffee) but the more I heard stories of the ways these oils were working in the lives of my good friends, my interest was peaked and I agreed to give them a try. This past fall I took an Environmental Science class at school and learning about the chemicals in the products we use everyday was scary. In doing further my research I found oils are also used in hospitals and worldwide. While modern medicine obviously has its place, it’s very reassuring as a mom, wife and Lupus patient to be able to treat your family with safe natural products safely and naturally, trading one ailment for another one.
The essential oils you receive from Young Living are all therapeutic grade oils you can diffuse, apply topically, and ingest.
- Purification: Gets rid of odors in the house and in laundry. This is my secret weapon for getting the smell out of my kids’ shoes. I also put a couple drops in the bottoms of my trash can, and diffuse it constantly to keep away bugs.
- Panaway: After workouts
- Frankincense: All things skin-related, at 40 my skin is doing some funky things so I needed something that could play hardball and this was just the product. Frankincense is the oil I’d choose if I were only allowed one oil. It’s so good. I highly recommend researching the benefits!
- Valor: Snoring,
- Lavender: Sleepy cream and SO many other things (it’s known as the swiss army knife of essential oils)
- Thieves: Supporting a healthy immune system
- Lemon: Add to water to alkalize the body, detox, support proper circulation, encourage proper digestion, minimize fluid retention, increase metabolism
- Peace & Calming: Calms fussy babies, toddlers, and adults ; ) I bathe with it after a LONG day
- Stress Away: My best friend!
These oils plus a few more, and a diffuser, along with a couple of samples to share, and literature all come in the Premium Starter Kit. This is the kit that got me started, and it’s how I recommend anyone interested essential oils get started! (I specifically recommend the kit with this pretty white “Aroma” diffuser, because look at it. Ooh la la.)
