Valentines Day is coming and while everyone everywhere is will be focused on their significant other I want to be the ONE PERSON who helps you remember to show your business some love too! Well, Wanda how do you propose we do that you may be asking? Well, businesses need a lot of love to run properly. Much like a relationship if you don’t provide your business with the love and support it needs it will not work and function properly. Having an organized system so that it can run effectively, systems to manage and inform you of cash flow EVEN when the slow times hit, clients and a client database to make sure proper follow-up along with marketing and Social media management. These are just a few example s of some of the systems that businesses have and what it takes to run them.
I love my business, some days more than others and that’s just being real with you. But I have learned that through it all when I have and follow my systems things just work better. I wasn’t always a business owner, my last job was a 9-5 in the non-profit world so I understand what it’s like to work under a strict budget and structured schedule, a schedule that was set according to the way someone else thought your day should run. But I learned a lot and I was able to take many of those lessons and implant them into my business. For example, time blocking. My clients were scheduled in 2 hours time blocks, and within that time I not only had to meet with the client I also had to input their information into the various software systems, along with copy and often times call other companies for information. What this taught me was to only keep open the windows that I needed so as not to get sidetracked, but I also learned that less is more. When you have a client on the phone you focus on what I refer to as the 5 W’s WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN AND WHY. I also grab all relevant contact info such as email addresses, phone numbers, and deposits for sessions.
