Tonight I had the privileged of hearing one of my favorite people speak, Jeff Gibbard. I found Jeff through a friend of a friend and have since become a huge fan of his blog and business. Jeff has taught me that all business is social and gaining the trust of your clients is THE MOST important thing in business.
So tonight I braved the 30 degree elements and sat in the meeting room of my local library to hear him educate parents on the 5 social apps that kids are using today. His message was not intended to ‘freak parents out’ but more to assist them with what their kids are doing and how to foster a more genuine and effective style of communication as well as a starting point on keeping kids safe in this age of advanced technology.
Values, etiquette and responsibility. At its core the message was simple, as a parent it was one that reminded to stop harping on things I can not control and trust that what I teach my children they will carry with them ‘OUT THERE’. I hope the rest of the parents in the room felt the same way.
