My Friend and Lifestyle Blogger Kristina Pines opened her home to me and my camera a few weeks ago so I could get a first hand view on what she calls ‘recipe days’. See Kristina is not just a food blogger she is recipe developer for local companies and they, get this…send her food sample and ask her to create a recipe with their product. How is that not the best job in the world!!!
So on my visit to her home in the Main Line section of PA she was creating a Parmesan Risotto. Now I love Risotto. I THOUGHT I had some great stuff already but this, this rosito just took the cake…(More on the cake later) But jeez, this was creamy, and flavorful and moist. It was perfection. She added leeks and garlic and made the process of cooking seem so simple. No I am a photographer I know the ins and outs of my Canon and can tell you all about Photoshop but a kitchen, well not so much. I have no idea what the difference is between a stock and a broth but Kristina, well she can talk and cook and not miss a beat.
Along with the Risotto she was also given the task of creating An Ultimate Chocolate Cake for her daughters birthday. So she made TWO DIFFERENT CHOCOLATE CAKES on this day. I thought I died and went to heaven. Please do not ask if I know the difference because I do not. I only know chocolate. And they were as close to heavenly as you can get. Coupled with her coffee. She left me speechless.
Now, the kicker to this was that Kristina showed me that you can have a very nice dinner that even the kids will eat any night of the week, and use the good dishes as well. I think so often we get lost in the busy of our day that we forget that we can eat good food and have an enjoyable experience at the same time. She even broke out a great bottle of wine to add the the experience.
You can visit Kristina’s site Daily Ampersand for more information on her cooking classes and recipes. I know that you will have as much fun as I did.
