Yes there is a day for US!!!
I’ve been shooting since the age of 12 and turned Pro when I lost my job in the nonprofit world a few years ago.
Becoming a full-time photographer has been the best thing EVER.
I’ve been published in newspapers, magazines and books and nation wide. I have photographed the Pope and Mayors. Kids and food. But this means nothing if I don’t love my craft. I see the world through a very different lens. I see shadows and highlights where others just see darkness and light. When I take a women’s portrait, I don’t see wrinkles I see beautifully layers of skin that have been aged by years of life, laughter, worry, and love. A mom comes to me for family portraits and stresses about her child not smiling for their portrait sessions I see a kid that has a personality all their own. I take a photo that has memories and sparks laughter on this child’s wedding day.
Photography is about documenting your life. It’s proof you were here and showed up. It shows happiness, sadness, love, hate, joy and pain. It can bring prosperity and it can rob you of all your riches. It’s everything and nothing. So today I challenge you to not look for perfection in your photographs but just document your life, Hire someone to do it for you so you can be part of the memories. Smile, laugh, cry. Have messy hair and yoga pants because at the end of the day the proof is you were here!
Print your photos share them with the world. Show up in your life and hire someone to document your special moments.
To my photographer friends Cheers! What we do is not easy, many days we are unappreciated and our hours are long. But you all do fantastic work I am proud to be among such an elite group of men and women I’m even more proud to call you friends.
Enjoy today, keep up the hard work
