Head shoulders knees and toes, (knees and toes)/eyes and ears and mouth and nose head and shoulder knees and toes (knees and toes).
These are the words to one of my kids favorite nursery rhymes. Its all about teaching kids the different parts of their bodies. But a funny thing happened two weeks ago while in was at a networking event at the Eagles game. I was talking to a gentleman about what makes up a good head shot and as we were talking this song popped into my head. The elements of a good head shot are getting good catch lights in the eyes the ears slightly out of focus, full body, upper or three quarters. Rembrandt lighting or butterfly. Different styles of clothing to bring out the various sides of your personality. What you do as a professional also matters, if you are a professional blogger I would not want you to wear Chef’s whites. So dressing for what you do and then having one professionally suited images to go along with your resume is always the way to go. Even bloggers get asked to speak at events, remember image is everything and you never want to be judged based on a poor head shot image.
And the most important thing in my professional opinion is finding a photographer who you can relax with, who understands what you do as a professional and can produce a professional head shot that incorporates all of this
