How I plan a month of Instagram in a day

blogging· photography

GOALS FIRST, PLAN SECOND

The best place to start (as with ANYTHING) is with your GOALS. After knowing where you’re going, you have to know WHO your target audience is. You’re going to put all that together and list some of your favorite current clients and some potential clients that would be perfect for your brand. List them on you planner.

DEFINE YOUR BRAND

Next, list off some words that best describe your brand. Some of mine are smart, sassy, fun, polished, and professional. Every one of your posts should embody at least one of these descriptor words.

You’re also going to brainstorming reasons why people want & need what you’re selling. What makes you different. From this, you will polish up your Instagram Bio to make sure it’s really clear who you are, and what you do. IF you aren’t clear your audience won’t know what you do and won’t trust you.

SCHEDULE TIME TO CONNECT WITH POTENTIAL FOLLOWERS

Your next step is going to have you start planning out how you are going to engage and grow your audience. List off other Instagram Accounts & Brands that are aligned with your own brand. People that have similar audiences to you. Spend time every single day connecting with THEIR followers. If you build it, they will not come- you have to TELL them about it.

Next, list off the hashtags your ideal audience is using and spend time every day going through and liking images using these hashtags. You are being active and engaged on other people’s IG feeds to hopefully send them to yours and if they like what they see, they will follow you!

WHAT & WHEN TO POST

Lastly, when to post is always a biggie for people. I used to stress about this all the time but then it hit me one in the midst of one of the algorithm changes that WHEN to post wasn’t as important as WHAT to post. It seems that people want more authenticity, people want to feel more connection to brands regardless of their size I personally use Buffer and it provides similar analytics you have to find one that works for you and your workflow. Next list the hashtags you want to use for your own post so it can be found within various communities, and choose the color palette & fonts and create your own content with photographs, quotes and graphics you can create yourself on Canva. As a professional photographer I use Photoshop and Lightroom to handle all of my edits but I love the ease of Canva with their pre-made templates and such it makes my workflow so easy and quick.

When you’re done leave me a comment or tag me in the post so I can follow up back and see what you’ve done. I love following amazing IG influencers

Sometimes you just need to sit in the car and have Sometimes you just need to sit in the car and have a mental health break.
As a mom, business, full time employee and student I have a lot on my plate. Yeah I'll admit I did this to myself but growth sometimes requires it. That doesn't mean I don't often feel overwhelmed. When that happens I hop in my car find a pretty location, grab a coffee and brain dump. Just 45 minutes helps clear my head and ease some of the mental stress I'm feeling. The time away from my family to put ALL of my responsibilities on paper is priceless. This is my #metime however short it may be. I'd encourage you to do the same. You don't need a lot to regain perspective you just need to be willing to acknowledge it. For me it's my car, a great cup of coffee,(today's was from @ultimocoffee ) and a little bit of time.

For the last year I've embarked on a more personal For the last year I've embarked on a more personal Photography projects. Things I've been dying to shoot but a full client calendar kept me from doing. I love having the time to, not only hone my craft but doing it while social distancing... let's be honest too, with less people in the streets that just means less background photo distraction.
These are the same image I've been having fun with different types of digital background editing. I'm learning that I like a more moody type of photo. What do you think?

So many of you know that when Covid hit our world So many of you know that when Covid hit our world changed forever. We're home more and business owners such as myself had to find things to do just to keep sane. I started working out and doing more research on the products I use and give to my family.
I've learned that there is such a gap in what's considered 'healthy'.
In steps @maryruthorganics created by a mom for moms! This really has me excited 🤭
