International Women’s Day was Friday March 8th 2019. I LOVE this date for so many reasons. when I shared it with my daughter I was surprised that she knew what this day was all about. I feel like there’s a new wave of feminism washing over the world. Woman aren’t, although I don’t think we ever really were, afraid to step up and step out and do our own thing. I believe that as a culture we grew to understand that in order to succeed we needed Women in roles where we can use our talents, voices and skills to make a difference both in and outside of the home.
Many feel that it is our roles as care takers, the fact that we are seen as emotional and have a vulnerable side to us that we are weak. But weak is the last thing we are. It is those traits that make our gender strong. We care, we are open. We want to see other succeed. We want to be a part something bigger. International Women’s Day is a day that recognizes that BIGGER. As a Latina and a Business owner. I always want to do my part. When I received a Facebook message from someone in a group suggesting an offer head shots and donate some of the proceeds to a nonprofit I was so on board with that idea. Then when my daughter agreed no other words needed to be said.
The first of 2 events wa,s on the International Women’s Day and one as a Saturday Event on April 6th 2019 for those that can’t make a weekday event.
