May is Lupus Awareness Month. I was diagnosed with Lupus at the age of 12. I had an allergic reaction to my seizure medication and I developed what is know as Environmental Lupus. It is in a sense an allergic reaction to the medication I was taking. As a result I have to have every medication screened by my doctors, even over the counter meds. Unlike caner where you can see its affects Lupus is internal. It’s the body attacking itself. The #1 phrase often hear is “But you don’t look sick” Even in the medical community. It has been my mission to put a face to this disease. We are moms, sisters, wives, daughters, lovers. We have a disease that attacks us from the inside out. Many days its a battle to just brush our teeth, but we get up and we fight, we fight ourselves to live and enjoy life. We know the alternatives. We choose happiness, strenght and love in the face of daily pain. The women on this page have Lupus and fight along side with me EVER.SINGLE.DAY And I love them for it. TO those I have yet to meet, I am with you in spirit. If you have questions email me if I will always reply. [email protected]
