We have a new team member
No not this person!!!
For a long time I’ve tried to do things on my own. A few times I’ve hired freelancers to come on broad to assist me with the behind the scenes running of my photography business but I didn’t have a clear plan in place nor did I have a clear direction as to what and where I was going with my business. I’ve spent the past 18 month really clarifying my brand and what I wanted my business to look like and with that came the new studio space new associations and a new clarity that I never thought I would have. With all of this new found clarity came the need for some studio help. I was a bit weary because ONE I had hired people before and it didn’t work out or 2 having to make payroll is HUGE. But the only way to grow is to get help I knew deep down that I couldn’t continue to burn the candle at both ends and expect success. I couldn’t edit over dinner or schedule social media post while I was at my sons baseball games.
I was literally giving myself more headaches. I needed to stop. It was at this point that I finally understood what the phrase working on and working in my business meant. So I looked at what not only what my business needed but what I NEEDED from an assistant than set out on my quest. While I wanted someone with experience I also wanted someone who was a Mother and was able to relate to ME. I wanted someone who was a creative and who would understand my world as a photographer, and it was also important that she be a woman of color because I am a woman of color and I want and believe in uplifting my community.
When LaNeshe responded I thought well this might work, she’s a past client she’d experienced my systems and she’ll be able to interact well not only within my business but with my clients. She had the social media and blogging experience that I sought in a candidate and she’s a creative (you’ll see that on her bio below!) I love her honesty and her feedback on things and she’s not afraid to put me in my place because some days I need it. I hope you’ll help me welcome her with warm wishes.
If there’s anything you’d like to see on the site as far as educational content, photo tips, Instagram how to’s let us know. LaNeshe will be spending some time making sure our social channels are up to day and engaging but my hope is she’ll make a guest appearance here on the blog. Finger’s Crossed!
