Popular Blog Posts Ideas for Photographers
As a photographer, I face two issues when it comes to blogging finding topics and finding the time. Finding TIME to blog is like solving world hunger but the first is easy. Putting aside time to ‘Brainstorm’ may or may not be as easy. I don’t know about you I’m the type of person that only has fantastic ideas when I’m in the shower. When hearing someone say that I SHOULD set aside half an hour or so and come up with a whole heap of ideas to fill my calendar them you can fill your editorial calendar with no problem. I find that coming up with ‘problems’ to solve are an easy blog topic. Solve the problems your readers might have and come up with a list of them so that you’ve always got a supply of topics when you need to write a post.
* I would also recommend that you create some kind of system for capturing and recording your ideas on the go. The voice recorder on your phone is the easiest method. The problems you see your readers having. I have a folder inside Evernote that I adding notes to which contain topics, questions, problems etc that I could write about one day. I know other bloggers use physical notebooks while others use apps like Evernote.
* As you’re writing posts be mindful of personal tangents or questions you ask yourself while you’re writing. I often find that when I’m writing a post that there are ideas hitting me that I can’t include in the post that I’m writing but that could be good to do a follow-up post on – capture them!
business
- How your photography helped a client’s business.
- Show what makes you different from your competitors. Niche, Customer service, product offerings,
- Share how you handle a difficult client or session.
- How a client can best prepare for a particular type of shoot.Do you have any special habits that you use to prepare for a session
- Write about what sort of photography you don’t do, and why. I don’t photograph Newborns because they scare me.
creativity
- Participate in or start your own 365 Project.
- Share a photo of the same thing every day (photographed in different ways) (Ideally, 3 angles is a good start)
- Show how your vision has evolved over months or years this is fun because it shows how your editing style has evolved
- Talk about recovering from a shooting mistake. For me, it was my first solo wedding.
- Show an example of a horrible image you’ve made, and what it taught you both creatively and technically.
- Share your most recent family vacation photos (let your audience in). This build that know, like trust factor.
- How often do you photograph, and why? (daily, weekly just when you have to work?)
- Give your camera to your child and have them make a photo of you.
These are just a few of my ideas, and I hope they inspire you. Share your photos on Instagram with the hashtag #madcrisstyle for a chance to get featured.
