Photography is not hard once you grasp a few fundamentals: Lighting, composition, and staging or posing depending on the subject matter. (yes there are other things Aperture, ISO, Shutter Speed but for the sake of this post these we are keeping it simple)
People ask me all of the time how I take such good photos or how they can achieve a better image quality using their phone and I say the same thing it starts with good lighting. I was at a blogger lunch a few months ago and my friend Noele had this fancy little gadget that I fell in love with. It was an LED light that clipped plugged into the earphone jack if her cell phone. I thought it was GENIUS, so I went out and purchased one. I DID NOT let the fact that it list a slew of phones that it’s compatible with deter me. It has a handy little carrying case so you can take it everywhere you go and without sounding TOO much like a commercial this thing really is neat. I have taken photos of my food, car selfies and selfies of me and the kids in bed cuddling. But they are on my phone. The light has 3 settings so you can adjust the brightness on the subject and it’s small enough that you can put it in your pocket with your phone and go. The only real downfall I found is that it only comes with a USB charger so I had to use my cell phone charger when I wasn’t at my computer. I picked it up for under $3.00 on Amazon so go pick up a few for those selfie lovers or snag one in time for my September workshop.
