Q: How can I run a successful sale on my page, and what exactly should I do when I want to run a sale?
A: This is a great question that I get asked frequently. Of course, sales generate a ton of buzz, but how do you generate buzz from the types of clients that you want? For starters, you want to keep in mind brands that are similar to yours. Are you a high-end photographer? If so, instead of deducting from your value the way that Wal-Mart does, ADD to your value the way that Lancome or Clinique do. So as opposed to “all sessions are half off! mark down, mark down, mark down!” you should think about adding something. Maybe you can add a canvas or some extra prints with all sessions booked this month. Does this make sense? You’re not taking money from your desired per-session income, and you’re still making it enticing for them to book you because they are getting so much more. Also, be sure you do not run sales too frequently or you will notice that people wait for sales to book and you will exhaust your audience while cheapening your brand.
Q: How do you stay on top of emails, phone calls, Facebook messages, etc? I am drowning and people keep falling through the cracks.
A: I get it! Here is something I did that has been a big help: I got a Google Voice number and that is now my business phone number and the one that is on my website because. I am a work from home mom, voice mails were never getting returned. I needed a way to track them and keep business business and personal life personal. I also have a separate email address that my contact form routes to, so I ONLY open that account when I am ready to sit down for a couple of hours and respond to emails. Before I had 5 different email accounts coming to my phone because I had 5 different service offerings and things were getting lost and buried. I could never remember which I had opened and which ones I hadn’t… it was a huge mess! Now everything is streamlined and manageable
