It’s May Prom and Graduation Season are in full effect! I LOVE this time of year it’s full of hope and joy and such undeniable bad-assery. Young adults everywhere are walking around with big goals and are being told that they can do and achieve whatever they put they mind to! And it’s true. Who would have thought that I would have grown up to photograph the Pope, 3 sitting Mayors, be published in an international book and marry the man of my dreams?
But this session was one of my most favorite in the whole world. Young high school girls. They are full of life and just so special. They either know themselves and are driven or are afraid of the power they know they have within them and the women they are destined to become. For so many years I was in the latter group. I was the oldest in my family and had no idea that I could forge my own path. I did everything I was told not realizing how AWESOME I was. I spent years in learning to like me. I think that’s why I enjoy photographing this age because I can share my story and if I can help just ONE young woman realize her power and worth then the years that I spent afraid of who I was and what I could be isn’t wasted.
These two are beautiful and powerful and oh so amazing. Oh the places they will go!
