The Zen of Photo Organization!

  •  Dropbox- within my Dropbox I have folders and my folders have been sorted by years and within those folders, I have individual months and then Clients.

The folders that aren’t placed in a year or that are located by themselves are special project folders for magazine jobs that I needed to have available ASAP at all times because these clients are still an open job.  My magazine work is shot at least 3 months in advance and the workflow for it is much different from what I do within my business for my personal clients. Once those jobs get archived they will be moved into a yearly folder.  I prefer Dropbox because I can access files from anywhere and

I think the important lesson though is that not only do you need to find a system that works with how you think but find one that works with the technology you have. My husband keeps preaching about storing photos on USB drives so I can have more space on my PC. Well yeah, that’s a great idea but I DON’T THINK THAT WAY. He can do it for me but I don’t think about that. I’m a mobile person so I need everything with me everywhere I go.   His way of thinking has me buying extra storage and worrying if the USB etc are enough and how many do I need. Cloud storage will tell me that I am out of space and simply say click here to upgrade, one step. Easy peasy.

I enjoy the ease of Dropbox over other online storage outlets and have been using them for many MANY years. I even pay for the pro option because I don’t want to worry about space. I upload images in both RAW and JPEG type every month, I set a reminder on my phone to do this that way I don’t get behind.

My clients are also familiar with this platform so it’s simple to share links. I am a Prime member and I am enjoying the option of having my own photos as a slideshow on the tv, I feel that my kids will also enjoy it as well. It helps build connections and their self-esteem when they can see their faces in the home. So I will circle back after I explore that platform a little more.

I’d love to hear your questions and thoughts on this post, so please leave a comment below and I will be happy to respond here or on social.

Love and Lattes,

Wanda
